Van Kaden Andre, M.D.
Ophthalmologist | Practice Owner
Dr Andre is a native Texan and grew up in the small town of Greenville. He attended Texas A&M University-Commerce where he obtained a degree in biology and graduated summa cum laude.
He attended medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas TX where he finished in the top quartile of his class.
He completed Residency training in Ophthalmology (where he served as Chief Resident during his senior year) at UT Southwestern Medical Center, which is considered one of the premier Ophthalmology training centers in the country. He completed an additional Fellowship in Glaucoma at UT Southwestern.
Dr Andre is Board Certified in Ophthalmology and a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is also a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Texas Medical Association, and the Fayette-Colorado Medical Society.
He specializes in Comprehensive Ophthalmology and Eye Exams, Standard and Advanced Cataract Surgery, Diabetic Eye Disease, and Glaucoma Treatment and Surgery.
Dr Andre is married to Dr Leah Mikesky, who is from Schulenburg and practices Internal Medicine in Weimar at the Youens-Duchicela Clinic. They met in medical school in Dallas and recently welcomed their first child, Brady. They are excited to be back in Schulenburg.
When not seeing patients, Dr Andre loves to spend time doing outdoor activities, including Fishing, Hunting, and Golf. He also enjoys cooking, watching sports, working on home improvement projects, and especially spending time with family, often accompanied by their chocolate lab, Piper.
Along with Leah and Brady, Dr Andre is excited to become a part of the community not only through providing excellent eye care, but also through worship at church, athletic events, and community gatherings.
Shannon Hentges
Front Desk Staff | Eye Care Clinical Assistant Optician and Contact Lens Specialist
Shannon is a graduate of Schulenburg High School and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Alabama with a degree in Commerce and Business Administration and a master’s degree in accounting. She also was a member of the Lady Horns and then Crimson Tide Volleyball Team. She is a CPA and brings a skilled business and personnel background to Andre Eye and Optical.
She has also trained as an Eye Care Clinical Assistant and Optical and Contact lens Specialist. She brings this experience to the Ophthalmic and Optical aspects of the practice.
She lives in Schulenburg with her husband - SISD board member Hale Hentges, and their two children, Ezra and Aubrey.
